THURSDAY—Authorities received an urgent call yesterday afternoon reporting a suspected suicide. The witnesses, siblings Mia and Alexander Jones, entered their home Wednesday only to be greeted with a foul smell. Further investigation led them to the body of a young man who has been identified as Isaac Hiro.
“He—He killed himself,” says witness Mia Jones, still in shock. “I-I didn’t have any idea he would kill himself. This is insane. He didn’t deserve to die.”
The victim was found hanging from his ceiling fan by a rope. There are no immediate indications of foul play, making suicide the most likely scenario. A suicide note also was found on the scene, but authorities are struggling to understand what it means. This note was provided to the paper, and we were granted permission to publish the following excerpt:
“I destroyed this house and then I destroyed myself.”
Alice Hernandez, a detective at Emet’s Crossing Police Department, is leading the investigation into the note. “The note doesn’t appear to be literal—although we are surveying the house for clues—but if it’s not literal, we’re having trouble identifying what exactly he was trying to say. His roommates are also at a loss. Because the answer may help bring his friends and family peace, we will continue to try and decode it.”
Police plan to continue searching the crime scene for evidence through the weekend.
