SATURDAY—A car crash at the intersection of Peter and Flower St. has left one dead and three severely injured.
According to security footage, the crash occurred at around 3:24 a.m. A red Corvette ran straight through a red light and hit the side of a silver Prius. The driver of the Corvette appeared to have died upon impact, while three of the four occupants of the Prius received a mix of bruises, concussions, internal bleeding, and broken bones. An autopsy of the Corvette driver will be performed to determine if he was under the influence of any substances.
The uninjured occupant of the Prius did not respond to our request for comment.
“It’s not everyday that a crash occurs of this magnitude,” says highway patrolman Harold Franz. “My heart goes out to the victims. Thankfully no other cars were out on the road that early, or else it could’ve easily been a disaster.”
Upon impact, the Corvette was launched up and over the Prius and skidded into the middle of the road across the intersection. The Prius was knocked on its side. Occupants of the Prius were unable to exit the vehicle because of the tumble but managed to call 911 to alert authorities of the crash and request immediate assistance.
As of this writing, the three victims of the crash are being treated at Newbury Hospital. One remains in critical condition. Their names and descriptions have been omitted from this report for the sake of privacy.
