FRIDAY—Careless Whiskers Cat Salon’s annual fashion show and costume contest was held Wednesday night, with a record 37 entries for this year’s awards.
“There was a spectacular showing,” says Tom Peterson, owner and head groomer at the salon. “It brings me such joy to see how much these owners care for their cats. Each and every one was fabulous in their own way.”
The winners for each category were:
Haute Couture: Lacey Mae in a dazzling display of vibrant colors and luscious ruffles
Honorable mention: Kiera Catly in a crisp and stylish black and white gown
Summer Fun: Alastair Crinklescruffs in a classic vacation-ready Hawaiian print
Cosplay: Gingy Williams appearing as Princess Leia
Historical Figures: Mojito Louise as Cleocatra
Honorable mention: Zeebee Nelson as Nyah Cat
Each winning cat and their person received a $50 gift card for Careless Whiskers. “It’s not exactly like they need help from me to make their cat shine,” comments Peterson, “but I would love to help touch up their looks if the opportunity arises. All cats are beautiful naturally, of course, but as this fashion show has shown, there are certain things we can do to accentuate their beauty.”
